Emily Smith
Comparative Literature MA Student
My name is Emily Smith and I am a second year Comparative Literature Masters’ student. I work in English and Spanish and am interested specifically in the religious diversity and heteroglossia of Medieval Iberia, England, and France. I am interested in how intersections of race, religion, and language within these regions shapes cultural and literary production. My research is concerned specifically with how medieval women navigate personal and public spheres and negotiate aspects of their religious, sexual, and social identities towards fruitful ends. I am interested primarily in Medieval poetry and hagiographical texts.
